In 2017, eight Oklahoma show pig breeders from across the state met and began to form a vision for the future. This vision was to build a program for Oklahoma show pig breeders to be instrumental in helping Oklahoma youth grow and develop their potential to be responsible citizens, and leaders in our communities in the years to come. The Certified Oklahoma Bred Association’s purpose is to give Oklahoma show pig buyers incentive to buy pigs bred in-state; to support the Oklahoma show pig industry’s profitability and image, and provide a sense of community and involvement for breeders; and to provide support for the growth and development of young agriculturalists.
The COBA board feels very strongly that show pig breeders in Oklahoma are not just simply selling an animal. We believe we are presenting young people an opportunity to learn many of the building blocks needed to be real contributors to our society, communities, and the way of life we all hold so dearly.
Exhibitors Benefit
Exhibitors can expect to win scholarships and added premiums at COBA shows just by showing Oklahoma-bred class winners, while traveling fewer miles and spending less money to buy show projects.
Breeders Benefit
Breeders can expect increased local customer traffic, increased marketing opportunities, winners pictures, and overall prosperity; while being a part of an organization providing support and a collective voice for Oklahoma show pig breeders.
Leadership
Board of Directors
The Certified Oklahoma Bred Association is governed by a Board of Directors. Directors are elected by the membership each year to serve a three-year term. The Board of Directors represents COBA members, establishes policy and manages affairs of the association, ensures proper accountability of business transactions, and provides for an annual financial audit.
